Easy Pop Melodies: for Cello Reviews
My daughter has been in orchestra since she was in 5th grade. She just completed 8th. She doesn't take private lessons, but she is wanting to learn to play other songs. I gave this to her as a gift and she loves it so far! They are easy enough for her to sight read and play well with practice, but sound like the actual song so others can recognize what it is. Which is sometimes difficult for the cello since it rarely plays the melody (at least in orchestra their music doesn't).
Was looking for a selection of cello tunes to get back into playing so gave this a try. Their definition of "pop" is a very interesting one - the songs go all the way from early 1960's to a mediocre Taylor Swift tune. Then throw in some not well known Beatles, Elvis, and The Sound of Music... you get my drift. A few are good but many aren't anything I would want to play. I would not have ordered had I seen the list of included songs.
My son loves this book. It was fun for him to have songs he recognizes to play. He has played the cello about 3 years now, just in school, no private lessons and the book seems to be about right for him.
Great love it , and the price is fantAstic too
These are really great if you are just beginning cello lessons. Many of them you can play right away and others will work a little later into your studies. It is important that those who take cello lessons also get to play some real music in stead of just exercises. This book will help you to achieve that. Again, it is mostly for those who are just starting playing the cello in the first 2-10 months of lessons.
Some good songs in there but, it says its for beginners. I bought this for my son based on a few reviews that said it was good for beginners who are literally just starting. That is not so. Another down side is I bought this for my nine year old who has been playing for 2 months i only know a handful of the songs, he knows less than that so hes not that interested. when I read a few of the songs mentioned i thought it would be great, if i had seen the entire list i probably would have skipped it
This was bought for a grandson who is a second year student. Just what he needed for some fun melodies!
