The Upside of Letting Go Reviews
'Staring at the huge campus in front of me, I take the plunge head first, praying for a fresh start. In a place where no one knows me as the girl with no family and issues not even the best therapists in the world can help. A place where people merely see me and what I offer, not my horrid past that lingers over me like a black cloud I can't seem to shake.'
Where do I begin.....So I started this book a day after it was released. And from the min I started, I could not put it done, I was hooked. Every word I read from the beginning, not only did I feel what was being said, but I also imagined the story being played in my mind like a movie. It simply could be made into a movie, a Lifetime television kind of movie. I laughed, I cried (a lot), I related to some parts, especially a part that hit really close to home for me. There were times throughout the book where Haley had flashbacks to her past. I liked how the author incorporated that so we had the feel of what Haley had been through. I was shocked by the slight twist in the story, something i wasnt expecting. I love how the character Haley was girly but also had that tomyboyish style to her which I can so relate to and she loved her Converse shoes!! I so love Converse. I even loved Kyler and for the man he became in this book. I was hesitant at first at the type of guy he was, but I eventually fell in love with him. In all seriousness, this book blew me away, made me think. There really is a true meaning in this book and it says it all in the title...The Upside of Letting Go. The story matches the title perfectly. Nacole Stayton did an amazing job, has a true talent for writing and I truly look forward to reading more of her work. Her book is indeed on my top list of favorite books for 2013. Bravo Nacole...Bravo
This story blew me away. It is hard to believe that this is actually Nacole Stayton's debut novel, it is that amazing. The story of a girl going to college and falling for a the unattainable guy has been done, BUT...it has not been done like this.
