Black & Decker The Complete Guide to Carpentry for Homeowners: Basic Carpentry Skills & Everyday Home Repairs (Black & Decker Complete Guide) Reviews
This is a neat little book, despite the name 'Black & Decker', which I stay away from like the plague.
The Black & Decker Series is a tremendous reference if your undertaking any Do It Yourself projects around the house. I enjoy referencing these so much we bought the entire series. A great addition to any handymans library with plenty of pictures and step by step directions to tackling tasks you would normally call someone for. It provides a great opportunity to save money by being able to take care of some projects yourself.
If you're new to carpentry, use of tools, etc, this book might help. It's written for folks with little experience. The word "complete" should not be in the title. Strange selection of projects for a beginner it seems , in some instances.
This book had all the base carpentry skills I was looking for in a book for homeowners. It was a great gift for my husband for Christmas. He said it had all the things he was looking for. He has read through it but not tried using the instruction yet and I have not used the book yet either, so I'll update later.
I loved this book and refer to it often. I'm a cubicle driver with a nine hour day and precious little time on the weekend to learn a new trade. This book takes a newby like me by the hand and walks them step by step through the carpentry jobs that pop up now and then around the home. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to feel the satisfaction you only get when you fix something in your house to a high standard, with your own tools and without having to spend big on a contractor.
I bought this book for a garage project of mine and the decent reviews it had. I must say the reviews are well deserved. This book offers plenty of photos and well explained "how-to" guide lines. Detailed explanation with photos of all the tools you'll need for your project. I can now do my projects with confidence considering I am a novice at carpentry. Excellent choice for the novist.
Great book to get started with. This is my second copy. There is a newer version that is also good but this one has a sawhorse plan that I like. If you are a new homeowner and like doing some of the work yourself then this it a great book. If you are beyond the basics then you can skip this one.
