Storyteller: The Photographs of Duane Michals Reviews
I have a few other books by Duane Michals, but this one is going to be my favorite. The book is large--without being too big to comfortably read--and the printing is excellent. I have just started to read the essays, but so far I have enjoyed them and find them quite insightful into the life of the photographer. I owe a great deal of debt to Duane Michals, credit him for showing me, over thirty years ago, that photography can be about way more than just a picture of a thing, that photographs can express spiritual concepts and thoughts about this life (and perhaps one to come.) While some of the photographs and sequences explore heavier philosophical questions, some are lighthearted and fun (after all, life isn't all about the darkness.) I have never met Duane Michals, but I am thankful for all that he has taught me through his books.
Wonderful tribute and retrospective of Duane Michals work and life. Many of his most famous photo-stories are included ,as well as some of the newer and less know ones, and the writing is quite intelligent concerning the pictures, their meaning, and how they affected Michals understanding of what life is about.
Excellent by all means. Format and contain. A Masterpiece.
This book is fantastic and exceeded my expectations. Duane Michals was a strong influence on me as a photography student and this book and the images it contains reminds me why I so enjoy Duane Michal and his photography.
An excellent catalog and fine write-ups.A Satisfied Customer.
It was a gift and photogragher DH has not taken the wrapper off yet, but it was a special request and he loves Duane Michael's work so it's already a hit.
